Why are 17 percent of U.S. toddlers falling short on childhood vaccinations?

About 1 in 6 toddlers, or 17 percent, are missing doses of early-childhood vaccinations, as revealed in a Pediatrics study. Incomplete vaccination exposes kids to diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, and more. Reasons for incomplete vaccinations included family moves, insurance issues, and hesitancy, with larger families and lower-income households being more affected. One simple but often overlooked reason for hesitancy is the fear of pain from shots. Fortunately, we at Thimble™ have just launched an equally simple, yet remarkably effective tool for relief: the Recover patch. Studies have shown that addressing the pain reduces hesitancy,* leading to improved patient and public health.

Linda Searing takes a brief look at the statistical aspect of the study on The Washington Post.
